EYFS

EYFS Vison:

At Linden, we believe that the Early Years framework builds the foundation for the rest of a child’s life. Therefore, all learning in our Foundation Stage will be rewarding, enjoyable and will encourage children to practise, revise and consolidate acquired skills in a range of explorative and investigative ways. We want to develop a positive attitude towards learning and growing as a person which is reflected with much of our learning being undertaken through play-based activities. Children are encouraged to use their own initiative in play where the adults support learning and develop it in a fun and engaging way. This is also supported by adult directed activities.

Curriculum:

Our curriculum follows the EYFS Framework 2021 and has been designed with the needs, interests and life experiences of our children in mind. Our curriculum consists of the Prime areas of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), Communication and Language (CL) and Physical Development, and the Specific areas of learning: Literacy (L), Mathematics (M), Understanding the World (UW) and Expressive Arts & Design (EAD).

We cover a range of themes based on children's interests. Examples of previous themes are: 'Linden Bear’s Adventures’, ‘Aliens invasion’ ‘Space’ and ‘Animals’.

We have fantastic and spacious indoor and outdoor areas that are always set up with exciting, engaging provision open no matter what the weather!

OVERVIEW

Stay and Play and Drop In Sessions

Stay and Play sessions

These sessions are designed to invite you in to spend time with your child in their school learning environment. The sessions will consist of different activities such as; in class playing, a reading café and Forest School. Please ensure you sign up to these sessions using the webform on our school website.  Please note these sessions will be held at the end of each term.

Pop in’s

These pop in’s are designed to give you the opportunity to ‘pop in’ to class with your child for 15 minutes at the start of the day. Your child will be able to show you their peg, their drawer, share a book with you or look through their Learning Journey book, all the things that are important and matter to a 4/5 year old! You will not be required to sign up to these sessions, they are designed to be flexible and allow you to come in if you are able to on the day.

Please note these sessions will be held in the first week of each term. They will begin when the classroom doors open at 8.45am and end when the school bell rings at 9.00am. All adults will be required to exit through Class 2 door to ensure the children’s safety.
